I GOT THE JOB!!

I got the Quality Control; Child Administration position here at my work place - Christian Children's Fund. I know its not the marketing job i had in mind, however, it is still an awesome job!

This means i no longer have to do "bottom of the barrel" data entry, and i actually have more responsibilities! Plus a nice pay raise!! :) My position will be reporting to the same supervisor i currently have now, but i will be monitoring and evaluating all child administrators and the countries we serve in terms of the correspondance we receive from them. Which is quite a lot actually. Plus i will respond directly to all sponsors regarding questions and requests made about their sponsored children. Also i will be giving positive and negative feedback to all parties involved. Plus any extra projects I decide to take on.

This makes me very happy! I got this job on Friday, but was too excited to post anything on here!

On a second note, it was Jamie's b-day this weekend, so i'd just like to holla at my boy (friend) and wish him a very very very happy 24th birthday and may he have many more just like it! (except for the part about the fire in the club and him not getting his jacket!) but thats a whole other can of worms!

Not So Life Changing

Well, sadly, i didn't get that marketing job. BUT, it was only because the lady who got it had quite a bit more direct experience with the position. She was the finance assistant for a long time. There is another position coming up in my department that has my name written all over it, and it would actually be the same pay as this marketing assistant position was.

And who wants to be someone's assisitant anyways!? i'm definitely meant to be the brains of the operations, not the bitch (excuse my french!) . plus, i'm only 23 for goodness sakes and i haven't even been working here for a year! Although i would still like to get into marketing, i guess its just going to have to be through another path!

Excited, Nervous and Ready!

This is great! the new beta blogger. i still need to look around and see what i can do. i would really like to do something cool with my template, but honestly, i really don't have the patience for working on my html like that. we'll see....

In the meantime, i have discovered FACEBOOK! If you are reading this, and are not currently on it, get a facebook account. Its pretty cool. i find it to be a better networking tool than myspace, and i have been messaging old highschool friends that i had almost forgotten about!

Now, as for my excitment, nervousness and readiness, i just had an interview with our marketing department for a new position. I don't wanna get into the details too much, but it would be a promotion, and i think i really have a good chance at getting it! I really want it too...Crossing my fingers....!!

I'm also currently pondering my New Years plans. Anyone have any ideas thus far? We might have a shindig at our place, but we'll see.

One Posting a Month?

That sucks!

I'm gonna try harder this time. I'm not sure why i post so little. Well, actually i do, cuz i have a life. Seriously....well....:) I'd like to think so. At work, i'm usually actually working. Now that our office has moved into the depths of Markham and has finally turned into the typical "office space", my computer is no longer situated so that i can do whatever the hell i want on the net with no one being the wiser. Nope, they figured that one out quick, and now everyone's monitors are viewable to any passers by. Soooo, thats why posts from work will be few and far between. Then, usually when i come home, i try to give Jamie a little more computer time, cuz, well, he has NO time on the computer at work, obviously. Hes cooking. And doesn't have a computer. So at least i have some time to surf the net at work. Also, lets face it, when i come home from work, do i really wanna plunk myself down in front of the computer AGAIN? not really. Plus, theres cooking and cleaning to always be done, and the TV calls. Sooooo, with all this being said, I will try to make an effort to post more often, so i'm not writing a ton and its just more or less an update.

So here's the update:
Jamie and i went to the first Raptors home game of the season, and it was AWESOME!! Chris Bosh is the man. With a side of onions. Jamie and i both got Bosh jerseys, and i'm wearing mine now. What a geek.

Also, the weekend before, we went to Anna and Ian's place for Ians joint B-day/Halloween party, and here are some fab pics:

What a GRRREEEAAAT Party!

I would just like to say THANK YOU to everyone who came to our 2nd really large house party last weekend! It was awesome. I keep forgetting to take pictures (although anna took a couple!) but next time i promise i will!!

For those poor souls who couldn't make it and are reading this, you missed a night of lots of drinking, blabbing, gaming, gambling and just having a darned good time! There were honestly sooo many people there (some that i didn't even know myself!) and everyone had fun. I didn't even get to talk to as many ppl as i would have liked! The food was great too...i barely even got any! We had to order pizza after everyone left.

Anyways, thats my mid October post for y'all!

Hopefully i'll have some time for another one this month!

September: Profile of a Missing Month

As i look back over the years of my posting, i notice a trend. A trend of not posting anything in the month of September. No where do i have any recollections of a month that has a sense of newness, other than January of course. Even though i am now not in school, there is still a sense of the new and different in my mind. This will be documented here for the first time.

Date: Friday September 15th, dead centre of the month; payday.

Happenings of the day: work work and more work. im up to my eyeballs in work, even my eyebrows. Specifically i have to open 2 packages from Nicaragua and Paraguay (and they are definitely not light), i have to type up minutes for a conference i went to (will explain more later!) and i have to catch up with other work that i missed from being at the conference!

Goals: Start eating healthy again for goodness sake! I feel like a fat kid who just got back from fat camp, eating all the cake in sight! (the conference didnt help matters either). Also, get motivated to do SOMETHING active like GO TO THE GYM THAT I AM PAYING FOR!!! or to start doing some pilates videos. Save money. Save money. And save money.

Mishaps: Steve Irwin died this month! He was one of my favourite nature loving tv personalities. Crikey. Also, as a mishap i guess...the computer had to be given away...back to Jamie's brother...boooo.....and my ipod broke. :(

Goodhaps: Bought a new computer!! woo!!! its very nice. Also, my ipod got fixed! by moi! and thanx to lizzy and thomas! wooo again!

Busy With: work! As i mentioned before, i have been taking on extra work at work by doing the minutes for a large international child fund conference, which i don't want to bore you with, and i have also been helping organize a big board trip to Paraguay, by sending out visa applications of all participants to the Emabassy which is in Ottawa....whew! this has all kept me quite busy. I have also applied for a higher position....i'm crossing my fingers!

Vacationing: none really, although Jamie and i went to my dad's place on the long weekend, which was a really nice getaway. we really needed some out-of-the-city down time. Although it was crappy weather it was still super nice! we are also going up this saturday night for a euchre tournament (which Jamie is learning how to play!)

Miscellaneous: umm...i can't think of anything miscellaneous that's happened so far this month. oh oh...i really like T.I. I think hes awesome and very cute. i'm not even sure how old he is. He was pretty decent in his film The ATL. and i have to pee. thats all.

I think that suffices for my first ever September posting!!

Taste of the Danforth

AKA....TASTE OF GREECE (again! *sigh*)

Well, as you all know, the 13th Annual Taste of the Danforth was hosted this past weekend, and for those of you who couldn't make it out....SUCKERS!!

I happen to have gone twice!

There was tons of food...some of my favourites were the Calimari from "Taste of the Silk Road" a middle eastern place, Roasted lamb on a pita from some random restaurant and the frappes (the greek iced coffee beverage of choice...Starbucks what?!), loukemades and kataifis (greek sweets) from Cafe Frappe.

We made it there on sat. for 4:30 with Anna and Ian and Sarah, walked around, bought some stuff (a wooden elephant!) and then met Sarah and Brandon back at the Fox on Danforth for some Beer. When we got out, the entire street was at a standstill because it was so packed and there were cops trying to direct the flow of traffic (of people i mean!). Onwards home we went after sampling that tasty calimari.

Next day, jamie and i just couldnt get enough so we found ourselves at the All you can Eat Sushi place on the danforth. Silly huh? but it was really yummy. we then proceeded to get some frappes, duck into a little bookstore to find a few funny/cheap books and got my most desired "Vanilla"...a greek treat that is very sugary, which you scoop out with a spoon, stick in a glass of cold water and suck on kind of like a soft lollypop. It is my after work snack of choice. we also practially STOLE groceries from a veggi/fruit market they were so cheap!

So that was my very tasty weekend. Also, It was mine and Jamies 1 year anniversary last week, HAPPY ANNIVERSARY BABY! (Taste of the Danforth was one of the first events we went to as a couple last year!) :)

Back from Greece

Ok, so i know my posts are now far and few between. I know i missed July. but july doesnt really count cuz i was NOT EVEN IN THIS COUNTRY (for half of it)!! yes yes, i was in Glorious Greece! It was total awesomeness.

It consisted of villages, dancing, some eating, taning, dancing, taning, dancing, drinking and....dancing!! yes i did lose 5 pounds!

But really, it was fabulous. I saw some family that i have never met before, and they were all so amazingly sweet and loving. It got pretty emotional. Also, there was a point where we were at a tiny village, dancing with the locals, when 2 old old OLD Yiayias started dancing at the front of the line WITH THEIR CANES! our whole dance group teared up. that one instance made it all worth it. and to have us all experience that together, truly made our dance group a tighter 'family'.

Change of Plans, Change of Life...!!!!

Yeah yeah!!

ok, well, first and formost, i'm bad...i know. i'm sorry. i have been completely slacking and leaving u folks hanging in the happenings of my oh-so-fabulous life. but honestly, i must say its actually because i like having my work done at work....and i always chit chat with anna on msn...tee hee...we're slackers. also, i must say, eating healthy, which means eating all the time in small doses and guzzling water like it was beer takes ALOT of time! cuz im eating all the time! or washing a plate. or refilling my water bottle. or making tea....etc. ya get my drift. so yes. thats my apology for you.

however, to make up for this slackerness, i have a few goodies up my sleeve....one being my hot or not sticker!! yes folks, thats me. and im hot. as any fool would be able to see that high score rating in the corner! well, was anyone surprised? honestly, with no shadow of a doubt, i would have to say NO!

i might actually just have to put this on my blogger sideboard...hmmmm....yes....

alright all truthfulness aside, i have some other goodies that i have discovered: the blogstickers. these are funny little "stickies" that u just randomly place on ur blogs. here are a few right now!

aren't they fab little things? yes, yes they are....

so now i have some good news (for me) and some bad news (for me).
Good news: Jamie and I will be having the apartment all to ourselves as of this coming july!! Woooooooooooooooooooooooo!! this means i get to decorate to my hearts content and have a blast doin it. i have already purchased my 1st set of couches and they are absolutely fabulous (not to mention they were DIRT cheap!!)
Bad news: We ain't goin campin anymore!!...booooooooo....the unexpected early moving date of sarah and brandon has forced us to start purchasing our furniture early, leaving us with no spare cash for tents and stuff that we would have gotten for camping. well, u win some, u lose some. although we might end up goin to my dads place that weekend which would be jolly old good times! so yes. thats it basically.

watch NBA playoffs!! Dallas is kicking some sweet ass! Go Dirk!

A Long Awaited Holiday

yes, finally, its coming up...MAY 2-4 WEEKEND!!! WOOOOOO

A long weekend where i finally don't have to worry about booking off days!! a long weekend where i no longer need to do absolutely nothing!! camping is where its at folks!!

on the may long weekend, or Victoria Day weekend, as us old folks like to call it, Jamie and i and Anna and Ian are goin to Algonquin (actually, not Algonquin but somewhere real close!) and we will be sleeping in tents (a first for me!) and having lots of beer and BBQs. excitement does not even describe it!

seriously though, im so happy that im gonna be spending fabulous quality time with my best friend, and that our bfs can really bond. I'm so happy that we all have a really good dynamic together. the boys really like eachother too. not in that way u sickos. im just mostly happy that im gonna get in some much needed R&R.

not that work is bad. i just like sleeping. sleeping in. curling up with my man. how nice will it be to wake up in his warm arms, and have him "protect me" from the bears and creatures in the night? it will be amazing. trust me.

i think im just giddy, sayin anything right now actually. im not even sure if this makes sense. my heart is beating faster and im getting crazy arms....hahahaha....

That means Christ has Risen! In other words, happy Easter! Although the Greek Orthodox Easter is coming up this weekend! I felt it was a good time to blog!

Well, yes, it has been a while, and its not to say that i've been too busy, but i guess i have been. Ive just really been focussed on work and sometimes i wish i wasnt!! but i have had lots to fix and catch up on from mistakes made by others in the past!

Oh well, enough about work! I'm jealous of the fact that everyones goin away to somewhere tropical around now without me!! i have to stay here!! well, at least its not too bad, the long weekend was great and jamie and i bbqed stuff on our new mini bbq and patio set! it was great! everyone should come over for a fab BBQ and chill one weekend afternoon/evening.

Well, thats basically about all for now. I know, im boring. However, i am going to get my passport renewed for my trip to greece in the summer. so at least that gives me some hope! I'm also trying out some of the classes at goodlife, which are kind of fun! i need to get into major shape by greece, so i can go tanning in a fab bikini type thing. i hope. pray for me.

Raptors Game #2

Yes, yesterday, jamie and i went to see the Raptors again (for free!!!!) cuz his dad gave us 2 tickets that he had.

they were playing the Detroit Pistons (#1 in the East right now) and lost, yet again, by about 6 points. Sucky. But, we were sitting in the Sprite Zone and won a raptors hat (jamie won it by spelling out sprite with his butt!!) and a sprite bandana (cuz jamie has long arms and can reach real high!!) So not all was lost.

i really wanna jersey. a nice little white one with #4 BOSH on back. Bosh is awesomely awesome with all his awesomeness.

ps. St Patties day is comin up this weekend...what r all the peeps doin??? where r YOU drinkin beer this year?!?!

The Family

Last weekend (or the weekend before?!) Jamie took me to his cousin's baby shower and i met the rest of his family!!

and i fell in love...

with his little nephews (his brothers kids), named Bishop (4) and Terik (2), and ohhhh they r so squeezable!! and they luved me too!! i had em on my lap, laughing and giggling, feeding them cake and playing with them....and they followed me around everywhere....Bishop looks just like jamie too...its cute!

the rest of the family was great too and im so glad i finally got to meet his sister and her kids and some more of his cousins and uncles and aunts....he has a MASSIVELY CRAZY-HUGE family. even he can't even remember some of their names!!!

i absolutely luv large, loving families, who arent affraid to laugh out loud with eachother!

Autoshow...

A few weekends ago, the mister and i, and a few friends went to the fab canadian Autoshow...it was huge!! so many damn cars!!! but i had a great time...seriously. I luv how jamie introduces me to all his passions and i end up really enjoying them too....(Raptors/basketball, cars, 24)

I really liked some of the cool concept cars they had. There was one that was like a living room!! it was awesome! and i luved the 2 white lambouginis as well....they were hottttt!! this picture was taken infront of the Dodge Charger (as it clearly states) where we posed quite a few times, with his friends to make for some neato pics that look totally pro!! i luv how it looks like a magazine cover or something. Ain't my hat perfect too?!?!

now he gets to come to the clothing show in the spring with me!! hahaa...uhh...ya...........hmmm....

Healthy Living

yes, being healthy is my new "thing" in life. It's actually both mine and jamie's. We love it. we go to the gym 3 times a week together, we eat healthy, mostly low carb, or actually, healthy carb, with lots of veggies and meat. we rarely eat out, mostly to save money, but also, we enjoy cooking.

And not only just plain boring chicken and brocoli. We use as many different spices and cooking methods as we can, and we are always on the lookout to learn new recipies and different ways of preparing and cooking things. we feed off each others passion for cooking as well.

We have bought 2 of those large excersise balls, one for my size and one for his size and we are currently putting together a Saturday morning program for us to do, so we don't need to go to the gym that day. I also bought two 5 pound dumbells (the soft kind) for us to work on some core strength training.

I also can't wait to get onto a basketball court and have jamie teach me some moves!

Performance

This past weekend I had an amazing performance with my dance group. Thank you to all who came to watch, and thank you to all who supported me. Anyone who came knows that it was an amazing performance! It was so amazing infact, that tonight we are performing for a new celebratory international day: International Language Day. And it will be infront of big wigs, Dalton McGuinty and mayor David Miller! I know that we will "wow" them!

On a sad note, my computer is sick...and I'm not sure what the problem is. It wouldn't start up again and I'm praying to the good Lord in the sky that its not a virus and that all my stuff is still on the hard drive. So I have no beautiful pictures to show you. :(

On the upside, my stepmother sent me a link to the pictures that were taken back in Jan of my dad's surprise 50th B-day party, and you can see fabulous pictures of moi and ma familia!

Lastly, I am luckily going to the autoshow this weekend with Jamie and one of his friends, which should be tons of fun, and at the beginning of March, we're goin to see the Morgan Heritage concert at the koolhaus! wwoooooo!!

The Big V

As notified by my good friend mark, I have not posted in quite sometime! I have actually been happily busy at work and have not felt like sleeping, or crashing my head into the computer, so yes, happily busy.

Yesterday was Valentines Day, a "fake holiday" as Jamie has told me. (He also doesn't celebrate Halloween, or Santa, or the Easter Bunny like the good Christian he was taught to be). He says that Valentines Day is veryday. And then i said, no, its only Valentines Day, everyday for us, not for everyone else!

But low and behold, on this "Hallmark" holiday, I was surprised with a beautiful rose and the most scrumptious, delicious, home-cooked, gourmet meal EVER!!

Heres the menu:

(get ready to salivate people)

Appetizer - Blue cheese, cream cheese and
black olive stuffed mushroom caps.

Tantalizer - Boiled, then breaded and baked,
extra-large scallops on skewers.

Entree - Barley and vegetable risotto
stuffed bell peppers, with cheese.
- Onion, chive and garlic cream
cheese stuffed chicken rolls,
wrapped in bacon with a sherry,
green onion and mushroom sauce.

Dessert - Large strawberries soaked in
sweet sherry, dipped in a
creamy, buttery, dark chocolate
sauce.

It was heaven on earth and took him almost the whole day to make! I'm going to make people so jealous today with my lunch (as usual). Thanks again baby, I luv you and your talented cooking.

Canada: The Vote

well, canada has spoken out against the Liberals and has chosen the Conservative party. kind of.

in retrospect of what party i chose (liberals) and the outcome of the election, the outcome itself isn't actually all that bad. what we have here is a Conservative Minority government, meaning that although the Cons won, the other parties still out number them in amounts of seats. so basically, if Harper tries pulling some big ass bull shit, the rest of the gang can stop him. in fact, they can actually pull another re-vote if he does something super-nuts.

so, although i did vote Liberal (and don't think that for those of you who voted Liberal or NDP, your votes didnt count, cuz they did! we have more seats like i said!) i still think this outcome will kind of benefit our country in the long run because it has shaken the sure and steady, kind of pompus air out of the 13 year governing Liberals. Basically, when everyone votes Liberal again after Stephen Harper screws things up, they will do a good job in running our country SCANDAL FREE!!

we'll see how things go till then.

Friday....ahhhhh.

And not just any friday! its freakin amaaaaazzzziiiiinnnnnggggg outside. if you happen to have been in your basement all day, hibernating, sleeping, watching tv or whatever, get ur lazy butt up and outside for a stretch cuz ur never gonna see this kind of weather again!!!!

everyone is being social here at work which makes me wanna not work even more. i wanna bask in the sunlight people! BASK!! oh well.

here's how my weekend is looking thus far. today: go to the gym. wait wit jamie at his interview. come home. make fried chicken or something with chicken. invite some peeps over. do somethin fun. tomorrow: get waxed in tha mornin. get my daddio somethin for his b-day. go to his surprise 50th b-day party! wooooo!!!! sunday: sleep in as much as possible! visit my mom. go to dance practice.

Its finally out. After x amount of years and time, they (hollywood) has finally come out with a story about the horrific, disgusting, sick and twisted murders of Ontario girls Lesley Mahaffy and Kristin French by Paul Bernardo and Karla Homolka.

For those of you who would like a refresher in this horrible incident here is a link to the Wikipedia page on Karla and the murders.

So here's what really got me. How can cute and nice and funny actress Laura Prepon (best known as Donna from That 70's Show) take on the role of Karla? and why? I know that its probably a very challenging role to take and that she would definitely be showcasing and expanding her talent, BUT WHAT ABOUT HER MORALS?? Does it mean nothing to her that its a true story and people will be hurt when they see it?

Its such a controversial issue, and for that reason alone, it may have been better to sit this one out. From the point that the movie hits theatres and onwards, she may only be known as the woman who played Karla and had no feelings or consideration for others. Or, i might be wrong and she might win an Oscar like Charlize Theron did for her role in Monster.

Either way, as a Canadian and fellow Ontarian, I feel the need to respect these girl's families and NOT GO SEE THE MOVIE. It's almost like I want this movie to ruin her career so that hollywood doesn't make a few extra bucks by stepping on the hearts of real people (as they usually do).

But I must admit, curiosity is one hell of a feeling. Im curious to see how she will play Karla's role, (although it has already been said that the movie sympathizes with Homolka). Just as Monster was a horrifically and disturbingly good movie with lots of talent, I would never watch it more than once. If this movie does make it to Oscar nominee, I may watch a pirrated version of it (so that im not helping anyone make money off of someone's sorrow) but for now, I'm a no go.

The Right to Vote

its that time of year again....well, not quite. i seem to remember kind of recently researching a bit on the different parties and what they had to offer, and going to vote (for the 1st time) for the liberal party prime minister Paul Martin.

and now we're back doing it again! in being inspired by mark and his political blog, and after reading how my age bracket (18-35) is speaking out about politics through blogs, this is why i'm here now!

basically, after hearing stuff on the news, watching a few chunks of the big debate between parties, and reading things here and there in different newspapers, i have finally not been as sure in my liberal vote as before. but that just might be because i feel guilted into not wanting to vote for them.

sadly, i can say that i really don't know much about the "liberal corruption", cuz i didn't really follow politics at that time. but i hear it was big. and there r tons of conservative commercials stating it too. so this is the main reason as to why im torn. i guess its the reason everyone is torn.

somehow though, my gut is telling me to keep it liberal. i don't want to see a conservative government. Mike Harris was conservative and that left a very sour, bitter taste in my mouth. (as a side note, i think we should still have OAC available at highschools. my little bro and countless numbers of other grade 12s had no clue what the hell they wanted to do with themselves and had to stay an extra year anyways!)

and i think that if all this corruption has been brought out into the open, that the liberals will be cleaning up their act and be watched more closely anyways. the cat's outta the bag and they have to redeem themselves.

when it comes down to it, and this may be funny, but one of the ways i kind of think of it is, who would stand up the best to that a**hole President Bush. Paul Martin however, is one quick talking SOB and shows an air of confidence, which all leaders should.

Yes, you heard it first folks, i'm actually really starting to like (and more importantly really understand) basketball. Its pretty wicked actually. I suppose i can thank Jamie for that one, as he is quite the basketball obsessive.

But really, its a great sport. I get so excited when the guys dunk and do all kinds of crazy moves, and im actually learning the player's names and their styles. It really helps when the Raptors are winning of course (the houston game was AMAZING) but moreso, when they are trying to play like a team, and going for amazing plays, not just shots.

Then there's the politics, and the background drama for each of the players (like the a-hole Vince!) but Jamie knows it all, so he fills me in.

Also, the dudes r tall, muscular and lean, extremely talented, and pretty darn cute!

I just have to say, that I have the most amazing bf in the world!

and its soooo great to say it!

i know u may all be rolling your eyes at me and saying...."ya, but thats what everyone always says", but i must say, this is absolutly true!

i have held back from really saying this outwardly just because i was trying not to rub it in certain peoples faces, or making them feel bad, cuz im not that kind of person, "but now, i don't care....."

Jamie is amazing. He's the best kisser i've ever met! (well, kissed!) His lips r so soft and cushiony and big and gentle. I love how he holds me. His strong arms reach around me and comfort me when im sad and lift me up when im happy. His gaze strokes my essence so deeply. They are what stole my heart and encaptured my soul. We can be goofy, or childish, or mature and deep all at the same time and always together. We understand what eachother is talking about and constantly steal eachothers thoughts. Just saying these things brings a lump into my throat from the emotions i feel towards him.

Not only this, we don't argue. EVER! Actually, we had an argument once...we were arguing about the functionality of a coffee table. Which is basically saying, we don't argue. And hes AMAZING with kids! absolutely luvs em! And i luv that about him. And he cooks me amazing dinners. I have more fun when we cook them together, with some wine, just having fun in the kitchen. He is spontaniously neat, and i never have to mommy him. We are on the same level in every way, and oh so different which keeps it fun and interesting!

I love him.

Yes yes, its true!! FINALLY!!

here r the deets:

I have found a job through Keith Bagg (thanx douglas once again!) and am now currently in the office of the Christian Children's Fund of Canada! Its great! my hours r 9-5 (actually, 8:30-4:30), mon-fri (with holidays off of course), with a comprehensive health plan and benefits, vacation time and sick days, 3 breaks, and all of this on a great salary! (and i get to sit on my butt, check my email, talk on the phone, listen to music and write this blog!) jealous? hahah

i can now have a life too!

but not only is it a great deal, i also actually get to help ppl. poor ppl. poor poor poor ppl. and children of course. i get to see pictures of these kids (i'm dealing with Nicaragua and possibly Paraguay) and i get to read their bio's and i get to feel so happy that i can help out in this small way.

my title is Child Information Administrator, and i basically put these kids into our system, correspond with field agents who r directly in Nicaragua and help link the right kids to their sponsors. i could not be happier.

Lost and Found

Well, well, well.... im sure thats what u're all saying right now, look who's finally back in the blogging world. The girl that started it all is back to stay. (lets hope!)

As most of you know, my world has been a crazy whirlwind of change. Change. Thats the key word here. I knew it was coming, but i didnt realize that it would be so fast and mind boggling. Everything changed. My residence, what i do on a daily basis, my boyfriend, and hopefully soon my job. But lets focus on the here and now.

Right now i'm typing away on my computer, in my new bedroom of my new apartment, with illegal internet access and its great. I luv it. Living with sarah is awesome (for the most part!) although we don't see much of eachother due to our opposite scheduals. But we always have stuff in the fridge (thanx to our parents!) and our place is cozy. I luv the fact that all my stuff is mine....i picked it out....not my mom when i was 9. Its so fabulous.

Not being in school is also cool. I have more money on a regular basis. I have time for my guilty pleasures without actually feeling guilty. I don't stress about homework! But work sux. No, actually it doesnt, but serving/bartending sux. I've just been doing it for so long that im sick of it. Of running around like a chicken with my head cut off, of having to think about so many things at one time that i actually need to take short mental breaks of about 10 seconds every half hour or so, and of just feeling like a servant as opposed to a server. Basically, i wanna sit behind a desk, talk calmly to my co-workers in a pleasant environment, be able to take 15 minute breaks, and to just be able to go to the bathroom when i want!! Lets just say i'm on the hunt right now.

Jamie. What a warming name when i hear it. (Mark, u may feel the same way! ;) ) He makes me feel stable in this crazy world and i don't know what i would do without him. He is my protector. Sometimes i look at him and i want to cry cuz im so in love with him. I know it hasn't been long, but its different than anything i've ever experienced. Its amazing. He's amazing.

I guess the name of this blog basically means that all the changes i was going through made me feel lost, like i wasnt' sure what i could hold on to. But that Jamie and i found eachother through it all at the end and thats what counts.

The Break....Up.

Not much i really wanna say here anymore.....its over. completely.

All i can say is that i don't regret anything. It was a great learning experience for me, about myself and what i need in a relationship. Shaun is a great guy and im sure he's gonna make some girl really happy.

Change helps the moving on process, and we have all experienced some kind of change this year. I really am starting to feel like an adult now, taking my life into my own hands and doing things i only dreamed of doing just a few short years ago.

Quick update...

Wow, i can't believe its been over a month since i've blogged. Since I've been outta school, it gets tough, cuz of work and friends, and the fact that blogging used to be the perfect way to procrastinate!

So, here r the main updates....Shaun and i r taking a break....yes, i know, its nuts. I never thought it would have happened, but since i have been done school, i feel like i need to live for myself for a little bit (only a month) and since shaun is my first boyfriend, i need to know that i can't live without him. Hopefully distance makes the heart grow fonder. It's been a week and a half, and im starting to miss him.

I need a car. Yes, i have been researching cars and insurance (cuz its usually more than what a car would be monthly!) and would really really like a mazda 3, but since insurance is so high, i might get an echo hatchback....we'll see. I can't take sharing a car between three ppl anymore, especially since one is my jerky brother!

I need to move out. This may actually end up happening sooner than getting a car. Sarah and i can no longer stand our parents and sibblings ganging up on us, the good, just graduated from university, smart, hard working daughters, and would like to move to an apartment at around yonge and sheppard. We're probably looking at paying $500 each....again, we'll see!

Mark's b-day was held at Viva City, then Karaoke at Twister! It was quite entertaining of course, and I was proud that Shaun actually sang! Thanx for the good times marky, as usual!

Mary's b-day was at the extremely cool patio/bar, Madison! I effing luv that place! All the girls looked fab-u-lous, and although finding a bathroom before going home unsuccessfully was very uncomfortable, I shall only have good memories of that night!

-Going to get my nails and hair done in two days. (luv lookin fresh)
-Going to be PIGGING OUT ROYALLY on sunday cuz its Easter (orthodox)
-Can't wait for my 2 other halves (wouldnt that make em my thirds?) to come home.

My Body

Alright, as promised, i am dedicating this blog to the most personal issues a girl could ever have, issues of body image.

As most of you know, i have been losing some weight (17 lbs thus far) from eating healthy and low carb and low sugar. (Although i have been drinking lots o low carb beer!) Doing this and seeing results keeps me motivated to not stuff my face with anything and everything that is bread or chocolate related, although come Easter (May 1st) everything is fair game. I plan on eating Cadbury Cream Eggs for breakfast. I'm not joking.

Also, now that school is done, I have promised myself that I will start excersising, cuz thats obviously an important part of staying in shape. Jogging is first on my list to tackle (just cuz it takes me out of the house and its free!), but I would really love to try Yoga/Pilates and to join a gym again (not that i really did the first time!) with Sarah once she comes home.

So far I have gone jogging twice since I only started a few days ago and have also been sick, but one big motivator is a 10k marathon for breast cancer or some other disease (sorry i really dont' remember!) on May 29th that Lucia told me about tonight. She has started training for it and i think its a good thing to work towards. I have never participated in a marathon of any kind, and for some reason it makes me feel like Charlotte or Miranda from SATC cuz they r always in the gym or jogging, training for something!

Go me!

Now, on to my other "issue". Boobs. To have them, or not to have them. Thats the question. Well, since I haven't been to Hooters again lately, my great urge for having massive, bouncy boobs isn't that strong anymore. I also try to look at beautiful women who r noticably small chested like Kelly Clarkson, Gwen Stefani, Charleze Theron and Jennifer Lopez, and notice that they all have other outstanding body parts.

But again, my only issue is that I feel like im missing out. I want something to be there when I wear a bra! I want to actually be able to push something up! I want to order something from Victorias Secret. I don't want big ones, trust me, but I want something! I have done some research, and the majority of breast augmentations r done behind the breast muscle, not doing any harm to milk ducts or nerves. Also, many women have it done before pregnancy, then at some point after get pregnant, and it doesn't really make a difference to the shape of them.

Im still giving it some thought. It won't happen anytime soon. I will have to be on my own and pretty financially stable.

ok....yes, you may think im obsessed.....but i think i deserve an iPod for the love of god! I NEED it! I'm a multimedia student for goodness sakes and as a computer/apple loving nerd, i should have it. plus, i need to buy myself a graduation present no? I want one to go jogging with.

Now, you may be rolling your eyes at me (due to my previous iPod incident) BUT, I have done oodles of research and have compared dozens of sellers and their products, to find the beautiful, 20 gig apple iPod from a great 700+ powerseller who has an ebay store. The price in total, including S&H: $345.00 cad. not bad i say.

The latest news is of my college formal...a bunch of us computer nerds from class thought it would be fitting to go to the formal in our final year and it was fabulous! Lizzy and i looked especially fabulous and so did our dates! (Shauny and Thomas) and we mustn't forget our fabulously smashing Mattie, or the appearance that Feeney (jeff) made. Thanx to everyone who made it a great night. I won't forget it.

Update on Moi!

First, i would like to say that Sarah's b-day last weekend was FA-BU-LOUS! U looked amazing darling and may u have an awesome 23rd year of living!

Next, i would just like to say....Holy Crap! I hate studying for greek so much i would rather be tied to a rock and have my liver pecked out a la Prometheus. I would rather be "touched" by Michael Jackson. I would rather be caught in a sex scandal like Paris! Also, I have much work to be done that keeps piling up each week and basically have started getting sick of being at York (anywhere outside of the finearts building that is!).

Greek Easter is on May 1st and so fasting has started on my part. Im giving up carbs and sugar.....seem like a diet? maybe. Tough? HELL YES!!! But i think it will be good for my soul! (haha, and my waist!)
ps, in talking about my body, i'm seriously, seriously considering getting implants...nothing gigantic or anything, and very natural...Im just so sick of having NOTHING!! I will discuss more of this on another blog.

Also, everyone will be glad to know that I have quickly gotten over my fear of eBay...I just bought 2 Juicy Couture jewellery items, one gold charm bracelet and one dangly heart necklace, both fabulous! I will update everyone as soon as they arrive! (ps, both sellers were powersellers, so it should be all good!)

Lastly, my friend Liz is having a Cancer Benefit Concert on Thursday March 31st at "The Great Hall" on queen west, starting at 6:30. I'm gonna be bartending and shaun is coming too. Be there or be square....They're having awesome raffle ticket prizes....i heard about gift baskets from Holt Renfrew!!! yah!!!

So ya, time to get back to studying 200 nouns, 500 verbs and their 6 million different conjugations! FUN!!

Happy B-day Shauny!

Well, it was shaun's 24th b-day yesterday and we had a fabbb time! First I took him to IKEA, where he hasn't been in a long time. We walked around and bought our first set of dish-ware, plus 2 chinese paper lamps. Shaun really wanted to try the swedish meatballs, and so we got that and the 99cent pasta with alfredo. We payed for our stuff and then bought a hotdog and frozen yogurt after as well.....we wanted the full ikea experience.

After that, i took shauny to Baton Rouge for apps and wine (a full bottle!), but bought tickets for the movie "Constantine" before eating. we basically had a full bottle of wine and food in less than an hour! Lets just say the movie was lots of fun! Actually, the walk down the block to the theatre was hilarious!

Basically, we had a fantastic night and are going out with his friends on friday to celebrate some more!

SATC Fest - "It was healthy and fabulous!"

Ok, so that was my official favourite line of the night! Ohh samantha, u kill me!

So the night was amazing!! Thanx to Liz, Mary, Andrea (cuz), Loos, Samina, Andrea and Allysa, and of course myself for hosting it! Without u girls the party would not have been what it was!

After 2 martini mixes, cupcakes, pizza, cookies, sushi, a cheese plate (mmm cheese!)
and many, many episodes of Sex and the City, we found ourselves bonding over boys we didn't realize eachother knew, and crusty, bitchy neighbours! What a night. I would do it again in a heartbeat. hmmm, maybe i should start planning....

V-Day...Where are u??

Yes, my V-day this year went missing....Shaun was sick (yet again) and so we couldnt go to the yummy seafood restaurant downtown i made reservations at. Instead i went over to his place after running some errands and rented The Notebook for us to watch (as a romantic love story movie).

I gave shaun a sappy card and a mini box of ferrero roches cuz those r his favourite. I gave him a foot massage cuz he was feeling like crap. We watched the movie, which was really amazing. I understand why it's sold and rented out everywhere. I wanna buy it!

I fell asleep at his place cuz i was so tired, and came home this morning.

Other than that, it just felt like a regular, non special day. I wasn't expecting diamonds or pearls since we had decided that going for dinner and spending time together to celebrate us would be best. And i really did like spending quality time with him (as in, he didn't fall asleep during the movie for once!!) but i still feel like my v-day was jipped. (Although i love shaun no matter what).

Maybe it is just a stupid holiday with expectations that are too high.

Ok girls, its that fabulous time of year: Reading Week! (well, for us Yorkies anyways!) To make this week a memorable one, I will be hosting a "Sex Fest" this Wednesday! Some details:

Date: Wed, Feb. 16
Time: 3:00pm till we say its over!
Place: My house
Bring: Yourself plus a girlfriend if you want. (NO BOYS!) It is also required that you wear fabulous shoes! (Heels are a must!).

Since we shall be watching endless hours of Sex and the City, we obviously need food and beverages which I will take care of. I will make fabulous martini's, little appetizers, one of those gourmet frozen pizza's and homemade chocolate chip cookies. (Plus other snacks!) I will also stock up on Vogue, Cosmopolitain, People and LouLou magazines for your reading enjoyment! If you would like to bring something, call me and let me know. Liz is also bringing the Sex and the City game for us to play during intermission!

The Most Fabulous Weekend EVER!

This weekend was my most fabulous Paradosi dance performance that i told everyone about like 3 months ago....I thank those of you who came very much. U Rock!

so here's how it went. Last week i was in greek dance mode since sunday. we had practice on sunday, tuesday, thursday and of course friday. thursday and friday were basically sound and lighting checks and on saturday morning we had to be at Crystal Fountain in the morning to help set up the centre pieces. It was nuts.

The group from Greece who came to perform with us were all in their 30's and were pretty cool (although it sucked cuz i dont' speak greek!) but they were awesome regardless. The really liked all of us too and thought that we danced great, which we do!

On thursday night, we went to Megas restaurant on the Danforth, and since Fotiadis (the group from greece) has their own intruments, they broke out into song, and we broke out into dance! (of course!) What is really specktacular though is the next night when after practice we all went to shoeless joe's at 401 and markham, and we broke out into song and dance there too! im sure we scared all those scarberians! Whatever, we gave them a show!

The show on friday went really well and we are going to have a dvd of it too. People were in awe of how amazing it was actually, and some were left in tears! There were about 400 ppl in the theatre. Saturday night was amazing as well because there were about 600 ppl watching and there was such hype from the night before. It was awesome cuz we got to dance and eat after and hang out with our friends and family.

Also, shaun's parents met my family for the first time and totally hit it off! My mom invited them over for dinner with the whole family too, which is amazing. Another exciting part of the night was when I actually got shaun to join the line and start dancing...it took a bit, but he finally got it! i was sooo proud! the music was pretty fast too....but he had an awesome time doing it. We danced the rest of the night away!

The Little Shits on Ebay....

Ok, well, i have had the whole weekend to think about this issue and i decided not to post anything about it when i found out cuz i was ready to burst out into tears at any second. Its getting better though....

sooo, i bid on this 40 gig apple iPod on ebay from some dude (lets call him FuckFace, FF for short) in the Netherlands. I won the auction and payed the $250cad to FF on the same day (Jan. 23). Since he is shipping from overseas, I realize that I must be patient and wait for it to come.

In the mean time, in class one day, I happened to be reading the most HILARIOUS story about a guy who scammed a scammer with the sale of the P-P-P-Powerbook. If you have time i highly suggest reading it (and the pics r soooo worth it!)! So after reading this elaborate scam story, i just happened to think about my ebay purchase, and decided to check out FF's status for shits and giggles. To my horrified belief i found THIS! Not only are his 5 most recent feedbacks negative, they also show that he is a total fraudster cuz he has hidden messages in a few of the other items in the descriptive information section saying that he is only selling a link of where to get the iPod cheap. What an ass!

So, as you can see, after reading and having a good chuckle about the scammer that got scammed, i got scammed myself.....i was all red and ready to cry in class!

here's what i'm doing about it though, and its looking like im gettin my moulah back! Since i payed with paypal, i filled a complaint with them and gave them the details. What basically happens is that if the seller can't come up with proof of shippment of the item or if they don't respond within 10 days of being contacted, it is assumed by paypal that they don't want to resolve the issue and paypal will go into their account and get my money back! yayyy!!! FF is goin dowwnnnnnnn!!!

Dougy gave me some really good info. Since eBay is a marketplace, they are responsible for people to be true to their word. Listing an item on ebay is a legally binding thing. When someone wins an auction, they are legal bound to that item and bound to paying for it, just as the seller is bound to giving that item to the winner for whatever price they won it for.

Now that my complaint is filed, they just need to resolve it, and i get my money back. Im pooped now, so i must go to be!

"York Sux" VS "My Fab Final Year"

so which is it? at the moment i must say that i am torn. usually, i'm the first person to say that york is gay and that it highly sux. but not today. or for the majority of this year. yes, there have been some low points...and some super-duper low points...but there have been major high points as well. i will put this year into perspective:

the down lows:
-me having to petition to get the york health plan charge of $125 off my bill (cuz i was late).
-me not getting into the second semester digital photography class.
-me realizing that i forgot to apply to get MY $100 back from a damage deposit fee for a class i took last year.
-me not knowing when i should hand in my intern report cuz the FACS ADVISOR who was going to mark it decided to resign in the middle of the school year.
-york only having 3 freakin copies of DVD studio pro in the labs i work in.
-me making sure i don't use identifiable people (including friends and family) for a DVD project at the last minute (within a week of handing it it) because my anal teacher just found out that york could get sued (although they never have before!) if someone finds themselves in someone's work without permission and don't wanna be there.
-me almost not being able to graduate because a class that is no longer available is still on the required course list from the year i entered york, but became no longer available right after that.

the up highs:
-me getting my fabulous internship.
-me only having 4 classes 1st semester and 3 classes 2nd semester.
-me having 2 art shows this year; one last semester, and one coming up this week (in the winter's lab!)
-me being in 3 of Don's classes!
-me having Liz in all my classes except Greek.
-me taking fabulous grad pics.
-me getting 2 A's and a B+ for last semester's classes!! woo!!
-me finishing up my internship with a completely fab evaluation from Natalie (my director) and getting an A from her! (worth 60% of my mark).
-me being part of 2 classes that were mentioned in Y-file, York's online news source.
-me being allowed to use a fabulous website called a 'wiki' for class (along with everyone else in the class) to create awesome pages like this! (can you believe we can do this in a class and actually get marks for it? ps-we are also REQUIRED to use MSN in class and whenever! The class is called 'Vitual Communities')
-me only having one LAST semester left of possibly my LAST schooling experience EVER!

so, as you can see, the good basically outweighs the bad! although there have been many, many other bad issues i have had with york in past years that i do not wish to speak about because i am currently basking in it's goodness.

Being Sick Sux!

yes, i, Xtina, finally got sick this year....for a night at least!

last night i came home from work experiencing dizzyness and drowzyness. As the night progressed i felt cold and had to bundle up. Shauny was over and we were lying down on the couch all covered up and cozy. It was nice and warm. But then when i went upstairs to get something, i felt really dizzy, like i was gonna faint and then felt like i was gonna be sick! yuk!

so i ran to the washroom, but luckily nothing happened. phew! i continued to sit on the floor, holding myself up, and shaun decided to take my temperature....it was 100 degrees! He also put a cold cloth on my forehead to get me to cool down...he's gonna be a good daddy one day!

So i ended up not barfing and then going to bed (shauny tucked me in and went home!) and then woke up in the morning not feeling bad at all! I called into work however (actually, shauny called in the night before for me) cuz i didn't wanna chance it. plus it was snowing like a mother effer!

so that me sick! for a night!

Seriously, i have greek overload in my head. I also need to piss like a gaithouri. I don't know the word for 'race horse' so donkey will have to do.

I just finished a stupid greek test that i crammed for and it seems like i studied for forever...any yet i still did crappy. Hopefully my prof gives me a better mark though cuz he does that for the ppl who don't speak greek too well.

I seiously commend those of you who know greek...learning three effing genders really sux! Why does there need to be neuter?!? is masculine and feminine not enough?! The term "it's all greek to me" is seriously an understatement.

anyways, one more test and one last exam to go before i NEVER have to do either again! (although i probably will at somepoint)

Things Goin' On (my schedual)

well, it's the start of a new semester, and things r looking good thus far. here is my schedual:

mon: work 10:30->4:30, school 7->10
tues: school 10:30->2:30, free time (woohoo) although i may work at night!
wed: school 3:30->7:30
thurs: gallery 11->6
fri: free day (although again, i will probably be working here at some point)
sat: work 10:30->4:30 and sometimes 5:30->10ish as well, since lately those assess like screwing me over with double shifts!
sun: dance practice 5->7

so basically, it looks like i have some free time for myself (which is awesome) and i have the chance to make some more moulah!

about work (East Side Mario's, where I bartend):

some background knowledge first: Ron and Gail r the owners. Julia is the GM. Leon and April are the other managers. Vince is Gail's son and Ron is his stepfather. Vince used to be the GM at the restaurant. He used to come to work high on coke and was once found lying on the bar in the morning cuz he did some late that night. Most of the chefs do weed on their breaks. Gail is a 60 something year old nurse and gets facelifts and boob jobs to make herself look young. She comes into East Sides and gets drunk often, talks alot of trash and makes a fool of herself. Ron is a 70 something cheap old man who works as a financial advisor in the mall across from East Sides. He cheats many people out of money. He is so cheap that he takes used staff styrofoam cups out of the garbage can, rinses them in water only, and puts them back for other staff to use. He also refills tropicana oj containers with minute maid oj. This is where i work!

and now, here is the current situation at work: Julia our GM decided to walk out and quit cuz Gail (while drunk as usual) was mouthing off to her (since she outwardly hates her). she was gonna quit anyways since she's 8 months pregnant! Ron and Gail have sold the restaurant to 2 egyptian couples (who know nothing about restaurants) and we only actually have one real manager working as of now (Leon). Steve (Gail's other son) is now a temp manager along with his girlfriend Roxanne (who used to be a bartender there). my favourite manager April is still off on disability (since sept) due to her ankle and god knows when she will come back and rescue us. until then, im laughing at how screwed we r all gonna be....although i don't think these new owners could be as bad as Ron and Gail!

ps...the cheap old fucker (who is probably 75) has prostate cancer and his fake, face lift, boob job, nurse of a wife is taking him to Texas where they can all hopefully die in the home-state of that asshole of a president! they all deserve eachother!!

pps...im not bitter, thats how we all are!!

New Years Resolutions

Yes, as promised, I have made some New Years resolutions that i would like to try to stick to over the year (and hopefully beyond!) Here they are:

1. Eat Healthy. More specifically, eat less carbs. Although it has been said to be the biggest fad diet this past year, it seems like a good idea for me since i know that i eat way too many. It will be hard, but i have already seen some results from the 2 weeks before christmas that i started. I'm crossing my fingers anyways.

2. Save Money. This is for many reasons obviously, but the main reason is to move out. I realize that i'm getting older, and that i need to think about my future...thank goodness for my gift certificates from christmas!

3. Move Out. Yes, i definitely need to do this. Living in my house is no longer cool.

4. Get a REAL job. Since i graduate this year, i think it would be a good idea. Art world, here i come!

5. Support Shauny. He is quiting smoking for real this time and i need to put the pressure on him.

I think there r probably more things i could add to the list, but i can't think of them right now and these r the big ones.

I would just like to say Merry Xmas, Happy Holidays, and may 2005 be a fabulous year for everyone!

In wrapping this year up (what a pun!) and turning a year older, here is the wisdom that I have gained from this year's experiences:

1. School goes by way too fast, so enjoy it while you can! (Yikes, here comes the real world!)

2. Your immediate family becomes more annoying as the years go by, so get out as soon as you can! (I'm trying right now!)

3. Although number 2 is true, it's easier to save your money for the real world while you live at home, so try to be cool with your family. It makes life easier.

4. Internships are the greatest! I suggest interning at a place that you would actually want to work at.

5. Go see some art. It will get you thinking. Seriously. Even if you hate it, it will make you think. Come to my gallery: Mercer Union!

6. Get involved...in anything...anything that makes you happy. Volunteer, take lessons, go to events, blah blah blah. Slow down and do something you wanna do. It can't always be about making money and school!

7. Support your friends and family. Don't be lazy. If someone asks you to come out to an event they are a part of....do it! You are important to them and so is your physical support.

8. Donate some money. Raising money is an effing bitch so when someone asks you to donate $2 bucks for something, give em $5!

9. Ebay is the greatest....but it's addictive, watch out!!

10. Explore Downtown. There's always somewhere you haven't been that could be a fabulous place to shop.

11. Stop buying into commercialism...I know we all do it everyday, but I dunno, stop drinking Coke, going to McDonalds and wearing Nike. (Although I still have my beautiful Nike Shox!) Instead go out and watch "Farenheit 9/11", "The Corporation" and "Supersize Me". Being educated is the first step!

12. I luv Shauny more and more each day. Thanx babes for always being there for me! I hope everyone finds their Shaun's some day!

Well, thats all the knowledge that I can remember from the year, but I'm sure there's much more. Stay tuned for my New Year's Resolutions!

Well, its been a while since my last post....I know you have all missed it!! But i have been a busy busy girl this past week! I finally finished the dreaded 'Cyborg DVD' (if you don't know about it, you don't wanna know about it!!) and handed it in yesterday...soooo....IM OFFICIALLY DONE!!!!

So on saturday, (my party!) we show up at stupid Lot 332 (who btw didn't call me back when I left a message about getting on guestlist) and the non guestlist line was superlong and they weren't letting anyone who wasn't VIP in! (unless u buttered up the bouncer with a $50!!) soooo....we went to Lucid, but didn't actually go there cuz i didn't wanna wait outside any longer cuz my feet were killing from my beautiful shoes!

but, we ended up and the tried and true Montana (the place i have been going for my past 3 b-days!)and had a great time of course! (Thanx Luus, Bonnie and Shauny of course for putting up with my sore feet!)

This experience taught me a few things(although i already knew them)....clubbing is soooo overrated....clubs act like highschool, only 'cool ppl' can get in......im getting old cuz i have this mentality!!!

omg....
I went to the Eaton Centre today to checkout the new Sephora...(for u boys, its the most fabulous makeup store EVER!) and i almost died!!! i was in makeup heaven!!

makeup is my weakness.

I was literally smiling ear to ear when i walked into the store, my pulse started racing and i got the jitters....im not joking here people. It was actually embaressing. Due to the short amount of time i had to browse the store however (due to short transfer times between streetcar and subway), i was unable to make a purchase. I need a full day there.

Ottawa (popopo!)

This weekend I went up to Ottawa with my fellow paradosi dancers, to be part of Project Hellas, a big festival they had there. Half of the group didn't dance, but were there for support to the other dancers, and cuz we r a family. Also, I have never seen so much Greek Ass in my life...no joke. We got mooned like at least 5 times (by the boyz).

We car pooled up to Ottawa in a convoy of 5 cars (later joined by a 6th) with walkie-talkies in each of the cars. Well, let me tell you, it was one of the funniest trips i have ever taken. I must thank the Gamma Gamma Gamma fraternaty for all the laughter! We got to the motel/hotel at 3, went for dinner, then came back to the rooms for an AWESOME room party. Lots of booze + 1st time drinkers = lots of laughs.....some key memories: Francine-"Starfish, and close!" and "Louie: Guys, for the 14th time....Where's my CAMERA?!?" (in his pocket of course!).

The next day we went to parliment and took some pics.

To fill up for the upcoming performance, we made a pit stop at subway and left our mark.

After that, we stayed at the theatre that the group was performing at for THE REST OF THE DAY!!! it was pretty brutal cuz they basically locked all of the doors and forced us to stay in a small, hot changeroom for the majority of the time, but honestly, i was stuck with a great group, so it didnt really matter.

On our way home, with the same shenanigans provided by the Gamma Gamma Gammas, the sky greeted us with a display of the Northern Lights...it was the most beautiful thing i have ever seen and very inspiring. I thank those of you who took pictures for me!

What a great weekend!

PS, we r dancing on the 20th of November in Dundas Square for the opening of some festival. I know it's last minute, but everyone should come out and see us. We r getting great coverage with it!

This is also why I have made the time to be there before 11, since thats when most guest lists end. I believe that dress code is in effect. Even if its not, what the heck, dress up! I'm also not sure what cover is as of yet as their website is under construction, but I will update this when I find out. We can assume its $10 though, and if its not, you can buy me a drink with that money! (haha)

Movie Reviews

As promised, i shall review the last 2 movies i went to go see in theatres!

i heart huckabees:
with an all around amazing cast, including 2 hotties jude law and the hunky mark wallberg (sp?), along with naomi watts, there was much eye candy. the movie was slightly slow paced, but all around funny, not hilarious, but more like dark comedy. i wanted to watch something that would stimulate my mind slightly more than all of the chick flicks i have been watching lately, and this did the trick. i luved it. on a different note, shauny fell asleep for a bit in the beginning, found it kinda weird, but kinda liked it too.
i give it 2 thumbs up.

the grudge:
since this movie was made by the same director of the ring, i was expecting something a bit more scary. somehow, when the entire audience is laughing at some scenes that obviously are not supposed to be funny, that tells me that the movie isn't that scary. i just found some parts to be boring. yes, the constant clicking noise this "monster" makes is slightly annoying/freaky, but its now just another noise that shaun can use to scare me and other ppl!

although there are parts that are suspensful and somthing pops out and scares you, there are also parts that try to play with your mind and freak you out, but neither is done really well. shaun will tell you i was scared however, since his hand really hurt from all the squeezing it had to endure. the only thing this movie has going for it is the element of foreignness. since it is made in japan, it seems slightly more creepy. another factor that makes me feel better about why some things just totally didn't make sense is the fact that there is supposed to be a sequel AND a prequel, which would help to explain alot i think. I would probably go see the others, just to understand it.

BOO!! were u scared? no, i didnt think so...

well, in the spirit of halloween, a bunch of us went out for a club hopping bus tour downtown and it was definitely good times! i was a funky cheerleader!! yah!!! some ppl had really creative costumes though...some of my favourites of the night were the crazy enthusiastic 80's aerobics chick and 3 guys dressed as faries and acted the part!! it was awesome though, really! check out mark's blog for more deets!

also i will put up some pics from our night'o'fun when marky sends em to me.

now i must get back to doing real work....reading something stupid for one of my classes that i probably won't actually pay any attention to.

In my last few minutes here at the gallery today, I thought about something kinda cool.....

Imagine what it would be like to have people make art about you all the time....like famous, inspiring people do. Would you actually wanna see it, even if it was good AND bad?

There's this artist thats going to be showing her work here in January, and she has only one piece that shes bringing...Its called the "fur queen" and it is a portrait of the Queen done in recycled fur that she has gotten a hold of. Its just kinda cool and i wonder if the Queen will actually ever get to see it!

ok, time to go meet up with shauny....we are going to see The Grudge with his school peeps. i will tell u how it is....actually, i will do a review of that and i heart huckabees as well....it will be a review page!

on another note....holy crap!! the workload is piling up! and i just don't seem to have a second for myself. and when i do, i spend money.

today i bought that big tweed purse from the GAP and it was on sale($35 instead of $60, and it was the last one there!) which means it was meant for me. i also bought some stuff im wearing on halloween.

im gonna be a funky cheerleader....the only thing i need now are those pom poms and i will be set! i luv halloween!

ok, back to this cybord DVD proposal that i don't wanna do!

A Fab-u-lous Opening!

we had another exhibit opening at the gallery (Mercer Union) and it was fabulous!

the art itself consists of 2 videos, and 4 "scenes" that the artist had taken pictures of and then made cut outs of and created mini sets (two are of a band playing in a bar scene one is an outdoor scene, one is a meat-packing plant.

the opening of the show was great, there were tons of people, yummy appetizers, cheap drinks and the band "The Constantines" played at about 10:30.

definitely a success and i encourage everyone to come out to the next opening (in december sometime) or come by the gallery to check out the current show! (and visit moi!)

im there on thursdays and fridays from 11-6.

Vintage is the new cool!

ok, so there is this awesome vintage clothing place on queen west called "69", right across from my gallery (which i will talk about in my next blog, cuz this was just a tad more important) and the vintage clothes r like, perfect....the chick who owns the place seams and fixes things and nothing smells old either.

More to the point, i was looking at furs they have (because there's nothing wrong with wearing fur that has already been made for someone else, and i'm not creating more of a demand or market for it, so why not just wear something that is already out there!) and i saw this amazing, large houndstooth print, tweet coat, in deep red and grey for only $125....so i try it on and it fits like a freakin glove!

i fall in love.

then, "kealan" as she is named, tells me that she has this fur stole (shoulder piece)that is fabulous except for the fact that the lining is coming undone in 4 places, which only needs to be hand sewn to fix. she said she would have done it and charged 90 bucks for it, but said if i wanted it, i could have it for 10 since i was buying the coat.

so i took em both! i luv vintage!

im seriously considering changing my blog name to "Confessions of Xtina the Shopaholic". seriously.

Shopping at PayLess!

Payless is the best store! I went in the other day to get new work shoes (since mine look like the inside of a toilet) and ended up getting a fabulous pair of black stiletto's ($20) and a snug pair of black, suede, mocasin-esque, faux fur lined boots (yes liz, with pom poms) ($54) and ended up forgetting about the work shoes.

I mean, come on, what's really more important here? looking good and buying 2 pairs of shoes for the price of dirt, or, soaking your socks everytime you walk over a wet floor (which is quite often) while at work. Clearly the former makes more sense!

ps, since i spent all my money on the 2 pairs of shoes, i will be what Carrie Bradshaw quotes "the old woman who literally lived in her shoes".

Well, im falling asleep yet again *ouch* liz just elbowed me. lots is going on this week....its ash's b-day...i like to call her "Ass" and she calls me "piss" short for chris. Shes great. I also have the breast cancer galla dance thingy on friday as well and that should be good. For those of you who don't know, i do professional greek dancing and we r performing for breast cancer.

Here's an early notice, it's liz's b-day the week after!! woo hoo!!

Also, i think im soon gonna have my christmas/bday present list up for those of you who don't know what to get me. Im making it easy for you all this year. look for that. if i get anything other than whats on my list, its being returned! hahaha.

ok, so my family celebrated thanxgiving today and man oh man did i eat alot! mmmm... turkey! and mashed potatoes! and corn! and stuffing! and gravy! and pie! well, we all know i like to eat ok!? i'm still freakin full!
